Our family began raising Boer goats in 2005 with eight does. We wanted to start a livestock venture that would allow each of us to be actively involved. So, with the help of Jennifer and Darrell Mueggenborg at 4-M Farms (my sister and brother-in-law) we were on our way. We are forever grateful for their endless generosity and encouragement during our Boer Goat experience! Without their help this would not have been possible. We were lucky enough to meet Spencer Perkins and now include him as family. Spencer continues to show with us and we don't know what we would do without him!
The Boer Goat business has been a very challenging journey – we’ve experienced the heartache of losing kids during kidding season and most recently, they elation of a successful show season. Our children have learned the complete “Circle of Life” and the responsibility of caring for livestock. For every mistake we’ve made, we’ve strived to not only correct it, but to learn from errors and prevent future problems. We have received so much help and input from valuable resources in the Boer Goat community and appreciate all the help.
We continue to work towards a successful breeding program and look forward to all the challenges ahead. Each kidding season presents with the opportunity to improve upon the quality of our animals. We are constantly working towards a high quality Boer Goat by following the Boer Goat breed standard. We are proud members of the American Boer Goat Association and International Boer Goat Association. 4Horn Farms looks forward to seeing you down the road as we continue to promote these fine animals.
